>> SUSPENDED:

On Friday, November 17 the music, art and design collective i.d.e.a. lauched SUSPENDED, an event that was part art show, part dance party and an all-around good time. The venue, 819 N. La Cienega Blvd. was a previously unoccupied building in the heart of West Hollywood, nestled against the Los Angeles Art Association's 825 Gallery. While the event pulsed with the heightened energy of a "guerrilla"-style operation (the artwork would only hang in the space for one night), the space was anything but. Vaulted ceilings, smooth white walls and custom built furniture gave the feel of a high-end private club. The place filled up quickly with young and beautiful people checking out the five artists featured in the show, Megan Saperstein, Sabrina Small, Benjamin Eric Keirn, Carrick Moore Gerety and Gregory Weiber. The walls were quickly filled with red dots as patrons snapped up drawing and paintings throughout the night.
While the beginning of the evening was clearly focused on showcasing the art, as the hour grew later the lights dimmed, the music changed tempo and the mood changed into a full on dance party. Guests were treated to sounds of DJ's Chris Holmes, Matthew Frauman, Scott Silva, and Daniel Linton. "I feel like I'm in New York" and "This is exactly what L.A. needs" were constant comments from people in the crowd. Not surprising, as i.d.e.a.'s founder, Sean Patrick has roots in the nightlife of New York.

Sean Patrick Coffman is the man behind Idea Music. But who is he really... and what's this all about?
